About the owner

DBsolutionz’s owner, Derrick Field, started database development in the 1980’s. This was generally to provide solutions to improve data management while employed by the  New Zealand Forest Servicev and this continued on into the Department of Conservation using various desktop database application. An interest in website development naturally followed on and after a career in government conservation as a field worker and manager for 41 years, software and website development is now a full time job.

Conservation employment also brought the normal business issues faced by a large organization. As a manager, strategic business planning,  organizational and project management were all skills that were necessary in the course of day to day work. Living in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand, allows a rural lifestyle while still able to pursue interests in information systems development and business management.
